Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has made it to the top of the list of the richest person in the world. He is now one-and-a-half-times richer than Bill Gates, who fell a spot in the list after Jeff’s success.
In early 2018, Bezos’ net worth crossed the 12-digit mark, and his current net worth is approximately $137 billion. However, a large portion of his wealth is tied to Amazon stock in which he holds a 16% stake worth about $125 billion. Due to the skyrocketing of Amazon shares in 2018, Bezos’ fortune has been soaring high. It is estimated that his net worth has increased at an average of roughly $260 million per day.
Based on Bezos’ net worth on Forbes, he currently earns $6.54 billion a month, more than $1.5 billion a week, and more than $215 million a day in the last 12 months. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bezos makes more than three times in a minute compared to what an average American worker makes in a year, which in Bezos’ economic amounts to $45,552 in one minute. For an Amazon worker to obtain an equivalent sum to Bezos’ hourly wages, they would have to work for 597,412 hours or 24 hours a day for about 68 years – earning a minimum wage of $15.
