Recently, the job reviewing and recruiting site Glassdoor released its list of the 25 highest paying internships in the United States – all based on the median monthly pay. According to the reports, tech companies dominate the list of the highest paid internships accounting for nearly half of the listed companies.
Facebook, the largest social media site tops the list by paying its interns $8,000 per month – which is more than any other tech companies’ paid interns. In fact, Facebook interns are earning almost double the amount that a typical worker in the U.S. would make. To put it into context, Facebook interns would earn $96,000 in a year while the median pay for an average worker in the U.S. is $43,400.
Furthermore, all the top five highest paying internships companies are well-known tech companies. After Facebook, Amazon followed suit with the median monthly pay of $7,725, Salesforce with $7,667, Google with $7,500, and Microsoft with $7,250. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy will be in demand for more new information technology workers in the coming years. This explains why tech companies are willing to offer higher salaries to attract top talents to fill the demand for highly skilled tech labor.
